What data do we collect?
When you send a request via the booking form
- Your first name and surname, email address and, if you provide it, your phone number
- Your arrival and departure dates, the number of adults and children and who you are travelling with (family, friends, etc.)
- Your comments, for example your arrival time or a request for a cot
- The price estimate you saw on the website
When you ask a question via the contact form
- Your first name and surname, email address and, if you provide them, your phone number and subject
- Your message
With every form
- The page on which you filled in the form and, if you arrived via a campaign link, the campaign details in that link (utm)
- Technical data needed to keep out spam, such as your IP address
If you allow statistics
If you click “Accept all” in the cookie banner, Google Analytics anonymously collects how you use the website: which pages you view, how you arrived on the site, your device and browser and your country or region. Without that consent, this does not happen.
Once your stay is confirmed
For a booked stay, we also keep the data needed for the payment of the advance and the security deposit, and the data that we are legally required to register as the landlord of a holiday home.
What do we use it for?
- To review your request and let you know whether we can accept it
- To answer your question
- To arrange your stay: confirmation, payment, practical information for your arrival and the refund of the security deposit
- To comply with our legal obligations, such as bookkeeping
- If you allow it: to understand how visitors use the website, so that we can improve it
We do not use your data for advertising and we do not send you a newsletter. The legal basis is your request itself (the preparation and performance of the rental agreement), our legal obligations, for a one-off question our legitimate interest in answering you, and for the statistics your consent.
Who do we share it with?
We never sell your data. We do work with a few service providers who process it solely on our behalf:
- Formspree receives what you enter in a form and forwards it to us. Formspree is a US company; the transfer takes place on the basis of the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
- Vercel hosts the website, on servers in Frankfurt.
- Google (Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics) processes the statistics, only if you have given your consent. Google may also process data outside the EU, on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the standard contractual clauses.
- Our email provider, for the emails we exchange with you.
We retrieve the availability shown in the calendar from our calendar on Booking.com. None of your data is sent to Booking.com in the process. If you book through Booking.com itself, Booking.com’s privacy policy applies.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to see how the website is used, but only after you allow it in the cookie banner. What we store in your browser and how to change your choice is explained in our cookie policy.
How long do we keep it?
- A request that does not lead to a stay, or a one-off question: up to one year after our last contact.
- Data from a booked stay: for as long as the law requires for bookkeeping and the registration of guests.
- Statistics in Google Analytics: up to 14 months.
Your rights
You can always ask us to:
- access your data or receive a copy of it
- rectify or erase your data
- restrict its use, or object to it
- withdraw your consent for statistics, which you can also do yourself via our cookie policy
To do so, email brunoderidder1957@gmail.com. We will reply within one month. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority.
