Bruges Christmas market: stay 15 minutes away
Every winter, Bruges Market Square turns into a village of wooden chalets, with an ice rink and lights along the canals. We live a 15-minute drive away and go every year. This is what we tell our guests.

When should you go?
The Christmas market runs from late November to early January. Weekends are busy, especially the two before Christmas. Go on a weekday after 17:00: the lights are on, but you won’t be queuing for your mulled wine.
Don’t miss
Skating on Market Square, the craft stalls on Simon Stevinplein and the light trail along the Dijver and the Rozenhoedkaai. With kids: hot chocolate at The Old Chocolate House and the shop windows in Steenstraat.
Our tip
Park for free at our place and take bus 72 from Loppem Dorp to the station. That way you won’t have to hunt for a parking space in the centre in the evening.
Staying outside the city
In December, hotels in the city centre fill up fast and are expensive. At Den Eenink you have a whole house for 6 people, a quarter of an hour from Market Square. You come back to the calm of Zedelgem, and the next morning the whole family has breakfast around one big table.
